Elvet Striders is a friendly and sociable running club based in Durham City catering for seniors of all abilities. Elvet Striders welcomes all runners of any fitness and ambition; whether you just want to get fit-and stay fit-or compete at the highest level. The club currently operates a waiting list for membership.
Club Sessions
Monday
The club uses Maiden Castle (see Wednesday) on three Mondays around Christmas and from roughly Easter all the way through to the beginning of September. Sessions start at 19:00

Wednesday
Be ready to run at 19.00 at Maiden Castle, Durham University - on north side of A177 between Shincliffe and Durham. This is when most club members come to the club

Saturday
A regular Saturday morning usually takes place on Waldridge Fell, starting promptly at 9:00 am, though they do wait a few minutes if expecting someone who hasn't arrived yet! Waldridge Fell is between Durham and Chester-le-Street, signed from the A167 at Chester Moor roundabout, take the left fork at the next roundabout. Turn left at the T-junction, after passing the garden centre. Runners meet in the first car park on the left.
ALTERNATIVELY, there is always a good turnout of Striders at the Durham parkrun at maiden castle at 9am.
